Managing Director

Our client, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd. (the Company) is one of the prestigious and highly reputed public sector organisations in the energy field. The Company is looking for a highly professional, dynamic and experienced person to spearhead the Company in the capacity of the Managing Director who will be responsible to the Board of Directors. The Managing Director will be a unique individual with the demonstrated ability of having led high performance team in the energy sector to achieve ambitious business and strategic targets.

The ideal candidate would be holding a graduate degree in engineering preferably in petroleum, oil & gas, mechanical and/ or electrical engineering or a professional management degree from amongst universities recognised/ accredited by HEC. The candidate would be in the age bracket of 55 to 62 years with minimum 25 years (post qualification) experience of working in a large public sector or private sector oil and gas company in progressively senior management positions.


More specifically he/she would be required to possess the following skills and expertise:

Relevant Industry Experience

• A thorough understanding of the core business and operations of the Company i.e. downstream gas transmission and distribution.
• Management of the core business and operations of the Company within the parameters provided by the Board and in compliance with the directives of the regulators to ensure production efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness;
• In depth understanding of the current and upcoming projects such as LNG Import; LNG Infrastructure Development; TAPI Gas Pipeline; IP Gas Pipeline etc.
• Overseeing the planning, implementation/ execution and evaluation of all Projects and EPC contracts undertaken or to be undertaken by the Company;
• Development of rapport with the Ministries, Provincial Governments, Parliamentarians, International Business, Exploration and Production Companies, Independent Power Producers, other entities etc. in the best interest of the Company.
• In depth knowledge of the Regulatory environment governing gas industry.
• In depth knowledge of the working of all departments of the Company especially transmission, distribution, projects, planning and development etc.

Leadership

• Work with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the company.
• Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors on internal and external issues that affect the company.
• Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Directors on all aspects of the company's activities.
• Act as a spokesperson for the company.

Operational planning and management

• Develop and implement strategic operating plans that reflect the long-term objectives and priorities established by the Board; and directing strategy towards the profitable growth and operation of the company.
• Ensure that the operation of the company meets the expectations of its clients, Board and shareholders.
• Ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the company.
• Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the company’s policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.

Program planning and management

• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the company's programs and services.
• Ensure that the programs and services offered by the company contribute to the company's mission and reflect the priorities of the Board
• Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the company to maintain or improve quality.
• Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects.

Human resources planning and management

• Determine staffing requirements for company’s management and program delivery.
• Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job description for all staff.
• Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.
• Recruit, interview and select staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the company's mission.
• Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review.

Financial planning and management

• Prepare a comprehensive budget for company.
• Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the company.
• Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board and ensure that sound book keeping and accounting procedures are followed.
• Administer the funds of the company according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the company.
• Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the company.
• Ensure that the company complies with all legislative / regulatory obligations.

Community relations/advocacy

• Mitigate/ diminish reputational risks to the Company.
• Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the company and to identify changes in the community served by the company
• Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, and other companies to help achieve the goals of the company.

Risk & Investor Management

• Identify and evaluate the risks to the company's people (clients, staff, management, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill, and image.
• Implement measures to control risks.
• Ensure easy access of company’s financial and annual reports to the shareholders.
• Prepare materials for investor / shareholder meetings and serve as the key point of contact for the investment community.

Change Management

• Create urgency for change management by identifying potential threats.
• Start discussions and give dynamic and convincing reasons to get people thinking and talking about change.
• Identify true leaders in the organization and work on team building within change coalition.
• Take managerial actions to overcome and/or reduce resistance and obstacles to change.

Performance Management

• Define the priority of each job responsibility and goal.
• Define performance standards for key components of the job.
• Hold interim discussions about employee performance and maintain a record of performance through critical incident reports, contributions or problems in employee’s file.
• Provide the opportunity for broader feedback by using a 360 degree performance feedback system that incorporates feedback from the employee's peers, customers, and people who may report to him.
• Develop and administer a coaching and improvement plan if the employee is not meeting expectations.

The selected candidate will be offered a 3 years contract (renewable) with market competitive salary and other perks & privileges commensurate with experience.
